OPEN DOOR ADULT LEARNING CENTRE has achieved
charitable status (1062383), a recognition of the worthiness
of its work. It aims to promote unbridled opportunity to learning
for the local community.
OPEN DOOR ADULT LEARNING CENTRE has a central goal that strives
to aid community regeneration by providing training courses
to everyone irrespective of age, race, disability, ethnicity
or gender
Since 1993 Open Door has been recognised as a Royal Society
of Arts registered centre (now OCR) enabling students to study
Word
Processing (at all levels), Computer Literacy and Information
Technology (at levels 1 & 2), ECDL incorporating BCS Levels
1 & 2, Level 2 NVQ in I.T. (I.T.Q.), and the Progression
Qualification (National Open College
Network) skills on the premises.
Alongside these Information Technology skill courses we have
developed other craft based courses that focus upon giving learners
the skills and understanding to help them progress into small
businesses and self-employment.
Currently these are N.O.C.N. accredited Pattern Drafting, Needlecraft
and Textiles skills. The Centre constantly monitors the employment
trends and needs, and endeavours to meet the demands that those
create.
